2007 Mazda RX-8 Information
Rumors have been circulating around the internet and other sources that Mazda plans on releasing the 2007 RX-8. Some have said that it will be newly designed and will be revealed towards the end of the year. It is also said that Renesis prototypes may be used in the design of the new model. A concept car was shown at the Tokyo Show which uses a hybrid motor, and many suspect that this may be the prototype for the new RX-8 model.
Because 2007 is not a long way off, many suspect that the concept car seen at the Tokyo Show is geared towards 2008. While an improved model of the RX-8 may be released in 2007, many suspect that it will be an enhancement rather than a totally new design. An example of this would be the 2006 350Z. While it is not an entirely new model, it has enhancements which are not found in the older 350Z models. It is also speculated that the car presented at the Tokyo Show called the Mazda Senku may replace the RX-8.
If Mazda plans on replacing the RX-8, there is a possibility that the new model will be a hybrid which takes design elements from both the Miata and RX-8. It would have two doors and two seats like the RX-8, but the engine used in this hybrid would be the type which is found in the Miata. Many people believe that a full design of the RX-8 is unlikely, but only Mazda knows for sure. So far, the company has not made comments on this.
For most of its history, Mazda typically produces a model for 6 to 8 years, and will make various modifications to it during this time. If the same pattern is repeated with the RX-8, it is likely that we won't see a completely new model until 2009 or 2010. Many also assume that the 2008 RX-8 will use a design which is similar to the 1997 model. The RX-8 has historically done well, outselling even the FD. However, Mazda has never been known for being a leader when it comes to horsepower.
Mazdas are primarily known for their excellent handling. Many consumers believe that the Mazda RX-8 needs to have more horsepower in order to compete with other cars in its class, but this is up for debate. Adding more horsepower to the 2007 RX-8 will make it more expensive. It will also cost more to maintain and insure. Mazda is known for designing cars which are affordable yet fun to drive, and it is likely that the 2007 RX-8 will be no exception. At this time, the car is still on the drawing board, and Mazda has not yet made any announcements about it or when it will be released.
Despite this, rumors and speculation will continue. It is likely that the 2007 model will feature a fresh design, but it may not be a completely new model. Many believe that the car will have 238hp and a 1.3L engine. Though this isn't powerful for sports car standards, the model is praised for its balance and handling.
